Do Websites Generate an ROI?
Written on the 31st of January 2008 by Scott Jones
Websites work internationally 24/7 to advertise a business and its capabilities and successes, whereas traditional marketing works for specific periods of time and geography only. This is a great reason to make your website the centre of ALL of your marketing campaigns.
If you ensure that all other marketing efforts point back to the website in addition to whatever else they are trying to achieve, then the value of every other piece of marketing you do is also enhanced due to increased reach and repeat impact.
For example, vehicle signage can put a business name in front of someone, but there is little room on a vehicle to do anything other than spike some interest in the product. Displaying the website prominently allows you to draw visitors to the site and significantly expand on the message.
Once they are at the site, various tools can be used to gather the information of the visitor so that you can send them (with their inherent expressed permission) further materials to cement the relationship and produce new or greater sales of products and services.
A website with proper database marketing tools built in can also generate sales ACTIVELY, by use of email, SMSs, and Ecards, to ensure that your business is always top of mind when a purchasing decision needs to be made. An advanced website with Surveying features will also allow you to better understand your client base in order to feed your other marketing efforts with critical information to create pinpoint accuracy and drive your marketing dollar further.
Don’t forget that Generation X, Y and Z all use the Internet as their preferred method for product research. This means that no web presence, or a bad web presence will actually cause you to lose business amongst these generations as you will be viewed as unprofessional and unhelpful.
If all of that wasn’t enough, even a high-end website is still THE cheapest broadscale marketing tool you will likely ever spend your money on. For half the price of a decent Yellow Pages ad, you can get tools that will drive your sales further for years to come.
Here are some things you should be thinking about with your website marketing:
